  • Changing it up.

I'm going to try this now.  Hope to see you there!

  • Summertime

The weather was PERFECT yesterday!  The boys and I were loving it.  Being outside in the sun but not roasting because there was an awesome cool breeze!  We ended the day in the bathtub to scrub dirty little toes clean that had gone barefoot all day:)

  • Pink

I'm surrounded by so much blue these days, but at one point in my life it was all about the pink.  I have a whole rubbermaid tote FULL of pink.  Pink clothes, pink blankets, pink shoes and socks, pink stuffed animals, and pink towels.  They are all packed away and I don't have a need for any pink right now, it makes me sad.  I barely got to know what it was like to be a mom to a girl.  There wasn't enough time for me to get to do fun stuff with her hair or get her all fancied up for Easter.  There wasn't any fingernail painting or princess dress up.  We had a lot of pink but it was only for a short time and now we only have blue.  Blue isn't bad, in fact, I love blue...a lot, but it makes it hard for me to remember that at one point in my life it was all about the pink.

It always makes me feel better when we get out to the cemetery and bring the pink back!  Pink flowers for our girl.  All the blue in my life now help to keep things looking nice (and pink) at her stone.

  • The search is over....

Well, most of it anyway!  Last Friday evening we got a call from Evans developmental pediatrician.  She said the words we have been waiting for for a long time, "I have an answer for you".  We have never heard those words spoken in regards to Evan!  After doing a $3,000 blood test that checks all of a persons chromosomes, we found out that Evan has Chromosome 17q21.31 micro deletion syndrome!  What a name huh?!  It is a very newly discovered, very rare syndrome that they really know very little about.   There is nothing new that we have to worry about with this syndrome.  It just explains what we already know about Evan: low muscle tone, developmental delay, speech problems, strabismus (eye alignment), seizures, and learning difficulties.  We will just call it "Evan Syndrome" :).  It is so good to finally know what was behind all these symptoms and to be able to connect with other families who have been affected by this.  I've already found 2 blogs and a yahoo group!!

We are still looking into some other things that may or may not be related to "Evan Syndrome", but it is such a relief to have a big piece of the puzzle in place!  This summer will still be filled with doctor appointments, more testing and even more specialists but at least we are going into it able to say that we finally have a diagnosis for our mystery boy.

Side Note:  The Geneticist said that he does have some of the characteristic facial features ( long face, bulbous nose, low set, big ears, blond hair, blue eyes that are slightly far apart...), but they aren't super pronounced or exaggerated.  We are pretty sure the hair and eyes came from daddy but whatever!!  I think he just looks like Evan, the same handsome boy he has always been!

  • Colin is 2!

My "baby" is really no longer a baby.  It's official, and I'm not sure I like it!  No really, turning two seems to suit him just fine.  He's got the attitude, vocabulary ("no", "mine"...), and cute, chubby little body of a just-turned-two year old and is lovin' it:)  I love how all my boys have been so different and I hope I can remember how each of them were at each different stage.  Since my memory is less than perfect, I think I'll use this to help me remember Colin at 2.

    - independent (much more so than the other two boys were)

    - loves being outside and already knows how to peddle his tricycle

    - gives kisses freely and generously

    - thinks everything is his or should be

    - favorite foods are pickles, cookies ("tookies"), pepperoni, and cucumbers

    - adores his brothers and tries to do everything that they do....and most of the time succeeds

    - is one of the cutest 2 year olds that I've ever laid eyes on

    - waves and says hi to everyone and is very friendly

    - loves to hold babies

    - sweet, sweet, sweet

Here are some pictures of Colin from his party and just other misc. cute ones.  Enjoy!
